Part-Time Senior Teller

West Town Savings Bank is seeking an experienced, Senior Teller to fill a Part-Time position in our Cicero, IL Branch Office.  The schedule for this Part-Time position will be between 20-25 hours per week including every Saturday from 7:45 a.m. until 1:15 p.m.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Receive and count working cash in assigned cash drawer at the beginning of each shift.
  • Greet each customer with a friendly and positive attitude.
  • Cash checks and pay out money after verifying that signatures are correct, that written and numerical amounts agree, and that accounts have sufficient funds.
  • Receive checks and cash for deposit, verify amounts, and check accuracy of deposit slips.
  • Examine checks for endorsements and verify other information such as dates, bank names, identification of the persons receiving payments and the legality of the documents (Know your customer:  US Patriot Act).
  • Enter customers' transactions into computers to record transactions and issue computer-generated receipts.
  • Count currency, coins, and checks received, by hand or using currency-counting machine, to prepare them for deposit or shipment to branch banks or the Federal Reserve Bank.
  • Prepare and verify cashier's checks.
  • Arrange monies received in cash boxes and coin dispensers according to denomination.
  • Process transactions such as term deposits, retirement savings plan contributions, automated teller transactions, night deposits, and mail deposits.
  • Balance currency, coin, and checks in cash drawers at end of each shift, and calculate daily transactions using computers, calculators, or adding machines.  Identify transaction mistakes when debits and credits do not balance.
  • Receive and process customer loan payments verifying payment dates and amounts due.
  • Respond to customer inquiries when customers call in or present in person to the branch resolving problems and/or discrepancies concerning customers’ accounts.
  • Cross-sell and assist customers by executing savings bond sales, official checks, money orders, and Visa® Gift Cards.
  • Explain, promote and sell bank products and services tailoring recommendations to the customer’s needs.
  • Participate in the daily balancing of the Bank’s on-site ATM terminal.
  • Assist with opening and closing branch on designated days.
  • Satisfactorily complete monthly compliance courses and testing.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned by the Branch Manager or Teller Supervisor.

 

Position Requirements:

 

·         Experience:  2-3 years of bank teller experience preferred.

 

·         Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.

 

·         Equipment:

 

o   Relevant computer skills. 

o   Fiserv core processing system experience a plus.

o   The ability to use a calculator, fax machine, and copier/scanner.

 

·         Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

o   Knowledge of customer service principles.

o   Strong numeric ability.

o   Good listening and communication skills.

o   Accuracy and attention to detail.

o   Problem solving skills.

o   Must possess good judgment.

o   Ability to work in a fast pace environment and tolerate stress.

o   Must be able to adapt to change.

o   Must be reliable, responsible, and dependable.

o   Must have the ability to maintain composure, controlling anger, and avoiding aggressive behavior, even in very difficult situations.

o   Must at all times have a professional demeanor.

o   Bilingual Spanish and English strongly preferred.
